Think Before You Post

What is your reaction to the video? Is this an issue for high school students? What kind of digital image do you have on the web? Imprint or tattoo?

It's pretty true. People can take that picture that you might post on facebook or myspace, copy it, and repost it on their profile, or look at it as often as they want. And it can be shown to other people, people you may not know and people who don't know you.

This video makes me wanna think twice before posting pictures of myself pretending to be an underwear model. I think that it is an issue for some high school students. I think that any picture you put on the web would be considered a tattoo but there are tattoos you like and tattoos you hate and I don't hate any of mine.

yeah people should really pay attention to what they put on the internet. private info could fall into the wrong hands and that could be trouble. things like your telephone # should never be put on the internet, that's my opinion.

I think that people should never be stupid enough to put pictures of themselves online that would make people view them in a bad way. I think that this is an issue for many high school students. I don't think that I have a bad digital image on the web and that mine is an imprint.

This video leaves people to think about their self image on the web. With all of the social networking that is available in the world today, it is very easy to put out the wrong image. I believe I have a good image on the web. I try to regulate what is on my Facebook page. I check it daily to delete inappropriate things because I know that not only are students looking at my page, but also adults in the community. Being an officer for an important organization, people tend to watch what I am doing more. So I definitely have to be careful.I would say I have an imprint on the web.

I cant believe anyone would post pictures of themselves that are provocative and inappropriate online, obviously if you know it's bad and that it may start chaos just do not post it!

I am actually not surprised of this video. I think putting pictures on social networks is a major issue for not only high school students, but also JR. High School students. I think that it's alright to have pictures on these sights, but I think the content of the pictures is what matters most. like they say, a picture is worth 1000 words, and no matter what you mean for the picture to say, another person might think something totally different and take it the wrong way. My digital image online is pretty good I only put my friends and I online, and not anything I think someone could take the wrong way. I personally think that every picture is a tattoo, but like I said, it depends on whether you have a "good tattoo" or a "bad tattoo" online.

this video does make a good point and serve a good purpose. you never know who will look at your facebook page. maybe your employer or future employer will and think that your are someone they don't want working for them. I do believe it is an issue for some high school students but i think most have enough common sence to be be careful on the web. i believe i have an imprint digital image i dont think i have any

When people post pictures on the internet, anyone can see it. This is a big issue for high school students because today most people have a facebook account or a myspace account. Students often post pictures on these websites and sometimes they aren't appropriate for other people to see. This can give them a bad image and once they the picture is posted, you can't take it back. This video makes you think twice before posting a picture online because all pictures would be considered as "tattoo" because they are permanent. I make sure that anything I post online isn't something that I wouldn't want others to see. If you ever happen to post a picture online, make sure it sets a positive example for your viewers.

A couple thoughts... First, I don't see that the "tattoo" analogy is accurate. For the most part a tattoo is, or can be, entirely private. They also have a very limited scope in terms of "page views".
Second, I think we all need to be aware that the issue we are discussing is not only limited to pictures. Our digital imprint can be ANY content that we post or publish to the web. While the issues with pictures is easier to depict in a short video, the content of blog posts, music shares, and any video can have equally undesirable effects.
Please remember that anything you decide to share will likely become not only "public" information to be consumed by BILLIONS of people, but will often become searchable.

i can understand where they see that that is true, but i really don't agree to the fullest. i think that as long as you aren't like half naked it's cool, just think about the picture your putting on before you do it.

i dont think that people should be stupid enough to put provocative pictures of themselves online when they should know that anyone can see it and even if it wasn't meant to be wrong that could be the image people receive when they see the picture

i think when people put there "inappropriate" photos or whatever it may be on the internet they know what they are doing but they want to create a certain image of being "cool", like "look at me and all my friends who get drunk every weekend" to me it is really sad and majority of the people who do it are underage so they are pretty much asking to be caught and if your that dumb you deserve to be caught.

This video is not new news to any of us. We all have been told that what we post on the Internet is open to everyone to see but maybe it makes you think a little bit. Sometimes we are a bit passive of what we are told until the consequences become a reality. Unfortunately this is an issue for high school students. People don't think before they post or add pictures to the Internet. I believe that I have a pretty good image on the Internet. I think I have an imprint. I try to make sure that what I put on the Internet is something that I would be OK with everyone to look at.
